Ames Research Center exobiologist David Blake has received NASA’s Exceptional Scintific Achievement medal twice and been awarded its Outstanding Leadership Medal. The miniaturized mineralogical instrument he developed for Mars exploration earned Research and Development magazine’s R&D 100 Award and Government Invention of the Year honors, and it has generated commercial spinoffs used in diverse industries around the world. He continues to develop X-ray based equipemtn for solar sysem reserach.
