Honolulu ARCS Scholar and 2023 ARCS Alumni Hall of Fame inductee Heidi Hammel was among the scientists interviewed for a PBS NewsHour story marking the first anniversary of observations by the James Webb Space Telescope. View the interview on YouTube.
The telescope sees farther — by a few hundred million years — than earlier telescopes, but it was spectroscopy data providing evidence for previously hypothesized solar system chemistry that blew Dr. Hammel away.
