No-host dinner and talk on a science topic of current interest organized by the Honolulu Academy of Science.
Dr. Terrilea Burnett, from the University of Hawai‘i Cancer Center, will discuss hereditary cancers. The Kaua‘i-born, UH-trained molecular oncologist will discuss the pathogenesis of cancer, e.g., transformation from normal tissue to a cancerous tumor, how “cancer genes” can be passed on through generations and one mechanism by which cancer genes increase the lifetime risk for developing cancer.
Dinner is at 6 p.m. (BYOB - Tamara’s is across the street). The talk begins at 7 p.m.
