The University of Hawai‘i Cancer Center has received the maximum five-year renewal of its National Cancer Institute designation. The center received its best score in a decade and classification as an “outstanding” cancer center, placing it in the top 4 percent of all cancer centers in the country. Only 72 centers have the NCI designation, which includes an $11 million grant to further reserach. The UH Cancer Center is the only NCI-designated center in the Pacific.
